Damac Downtown Beirut

The Beirut down Town area has witnessed a huge transformation plan, following the end of the civil war in 1990, to become the high end destination of the city. The area is the hub of modern residences and apartments, high end restaurants, and luxury shopping. The residential area include several large scale developments led by renowned global architects.

DAMAC towers is one of the prestigious residential destination, built in an upscale location, and offering modern and luxurious apartments. Since most of the tower apartments were small in terms of floor plans, and the client needed a larger residence, he decided to buy two apartments on the 22nd and 23rd floor and convert them to a modern duplex unit of a total area of 470 SQM.

Our scheme for the project included demolishing both apartments, and inserting a main stair that connects the two floors together. Due to the building structural conditions, we had to undergo a complex structural retrofit job including use of post casting post tensioning system using metal cables, slab recovery and carbon fibre polymer systems.

The interior design itself proposes a smooth continuous curved walls, arched around the openings, in white hues and simple lines, and accented by a striking metal stairs, art work, and bold furniture. At certain locations, CNC painted wood screens were added to enhance the dynamics of the apartment and accent the overall composition and flow.

The stair case is inspired by Japanese wood partitions, made of marble stair that is surrounded by several glass and solid screens on three sides. The front screens are covered by blue marble, while the back screen is covered by hand stitched leather.
