The Congo mall is a closed medium sized shopping centre located in the centre of Brazzaville city, in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The project is surrounded by two main streets and overlooks a main city square that witnesses daily small markets.
Due to the limited plot site, and the client requirement to utilize the whole plot area, the building had to come as a huge rectangular block with no room for any volumetric play. We were only left with the façade to create the Architectural identify needed for the project.
Our proposal included an 80 cm dynamic façade that echoes the busy scene of the city of Brazzaville. Brazzaville street scene is dynamic and coloured, which we reflected with the use of overlapping and perforated metal screens in different sizes and colors. Those screen overlap with closed metal facades in different coloured that double as facades and backing for signage.
